An IT project rarely succeeds thanks to the software alone. It succeeds when the integrator understands the business, masters the technologies, connects the solution to the rest of the information system and stays involved after go-live. These few questions help compare offers.
1. Does it understand your business?
A bank, an insurer, a manufacturer or a public body do not share the same processes or regulatory constraints. Ask how the integrator translates your processes and obligations into configuration, and which sectors it knows.
2. Which technologies and partners does it work with?
An integrator relies on vendors whose solutions it masters. Check which technology partnerships it maintains and which components it works on: ERP, CRM, content management, cloud, data, compliance, IT support.
3. What method does it propose?
Assessment of the existing setup, scoping, test environment, phased rollout: a clear method reduces risk. Be wary of a proposal that starts with the licence without discussing your organisation.
4. What happens after go-live?
User training, change management, support and maintenance: ask what is planned once the project is delivered, and who responds in case of an incident.
